The vehicle is equipped with independent brakes — hand and foot
The hand brake is a shoe brake, drum type, with two inner shoes, installed on the transfer case
The oil pump (Fig. 1) is a two-section gear pump.
The upper section of the oil pump supplies oil to the engine lubrication system and to the centrifuge, and the lower section to the oil radiator.
Checking the ZIL-131 pneumatic drive for serviceability
Before driving, make sure that the pressure in the system is not lower than 4.5 kg/cm 2
Power steering pump 1 with a reservoir is mounted on the engine and is driven through a pulley by a V-belt from a pulley located on the front end of the crankshaft
The wheel brakes have two brake shoes with friction linings attached to them.
Disassembling and checking the pump
Before disassembling, the pump must be removed from the car, after draining the oil from the pump and cleaning and washing its outer surface
Adjusting the kingpin bearings
The kingpin bearings of the front drive axle steering knuckle are adjusted with a preliminary load
